Character

Overview

Our award-winning character and leadership immersion program, the LifeCompass Program for Character & Leadership™, sets Montrose apart.

At Montrose, girls build a life compass.

The journey of life doesn’t come with a map and it is filled with detours, unexpected obstacles, and forks in the road.

That’s why we help our students build a life compass that points toward a noble purpose. As they develop strong habits of mind, heart, and character, they can set a vision, chart a course and navigate the challenges and opportunities that come their way. They graduate with the practical wisdom they need to thrive in any setting.

Here’s what Montrose’s award-winning LifeCompass Program looks like.

Montrose combines the best of ancient wisdom and modern research on how humans develop the habits they need to flourish. This is embedded into every aspect of our program.

1: Our Rich Liberal Arts Curriculum Inspires the Mind and Heart. We feed the intellectual lives of students with a rich and balanced diet of primary sources and classical and contemporary texts that offer compelling insights and raise essential questions about what it means to be human. Outstanding faculty engage students in our academic program of core texts of the liberal arts alongside advanced computer science, math and science requirements in a setting that encourages curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

2: Our Mentoring Program Gives Every Girl a Coach to Guide Her. Montrose students mature in confidence and flourish in collegiate life because of formative relationships forged with our faculty and mentors. Our intentionally unique relationships with students allow Montrose students to gain a strong sense of belonging and agility that makes them stand out on university campuses and in the workplace.

3: Our Students Take the Lead in Student Life, Leadership and Service. Montrose emphasizes the dignity of each person, so every student knows God loves her as the unique and unrepeatable person He created for a purpose. The world needs inspired young women, Montrose helps girls discern their inspiration and gives them the opportunity to articulate a strong vision about who they want to be and what difference they want to make in the world.

4. We Believe in Partnering with Parents. At Montrose, parents find supportive partnership in their noble vocation, believe in the mission and culture of the school, and know their daughters will become the best version of themselves because of that culture. Recognizing that a formative institution is the intersection with parents and the individual person, we work to build collaborative relationships with parents and offer them enrichment including workshops, speakers, blog content and curated online resources.
